About Us

We’re here to help you take your novel to the next level.

Editors are a dime a dozen, but we’re different. What makes our services unique from others is that we have both male and female editors on staff to assure that the dialogue, motivations and reactions from both points of view in your romance novel are believable.

Our experienced, professional editors are also lifelong, avid readers who pick up on things that others might miss like plot holes, inconsistencies and slow pacing that might put your book on a discerning reader’s DNF shelf.

Developmental editing, BETA reading and proofreading might seem like an extra step and expense in your process, but having those problems fixed before your readers point it out to you in a review, is priceless. Give us the opportunity to do a sample read and edit on three chapters of your work in progress and we will show you what we can do to help you.

Meet Our Team

Owner and Editor

Renita McKinney was born in Texas, but raised in Arkansas and Texas. As an only child, she started reading and books became her best friends. The characters became her family and she developed a love and respect for writing, reading, books and authors. Reading developed into more than a hobby to Renita; it’s a passion, an unquenchable thirst. Not being able to read would seemingly be a slow and tortuous death.

She has been fortunate to live all over this world due to being the former wife of a military man. So often she would visit foreign countries that would not seem so foreign at all, because she had already traveled there within the confines of a book. Her passion for books, desire for writing and love for words have afforded her the opportunity to work with many New York Times, USA Today and Amazon bestselling authors.  She thinks there’s nothing more exciting than to be on the inside of a story coming together, nor amazing that her opinion and input is requested by these phenomenal storytellers.

Renita now lives in San Antonio, Texas and is the mother of three amazing kids, Holly, Lamontre and Brandon. She tries to read at least 500 books a year, and loves to hang out at her own version of Cheers; Lefty’s Draft House, where she truly has made family and friends.

Curtis was born and raised in Texas. A small town boy he attended Texas A&M University. Relatively reserved (many will laugh at that),  he still has never met a stranger. With country living, there’s only so much you can do during the day, but reading was definitely part of that list. Now what he chose to read, is still up for discussion.

Adulthood found him totally immersed in technical manuals. But as he says, ya can only read so much black and white before you have to add color to the pages.

His start with Renita began with a challenge. She asked him to read a story and give his input. The rest was history, and is still history in the making. The men in the stories we work on, need a voice in the writing process. He strives to keep the male character’s voice true to the tale, as well as working with authors inside their story as it comes together.

Curtis lives in San Antonio and can be found along with Renita with the Lefty’s family often.

Alyssa is a trained editor with vast experience proofreading a variety of genres. After working in multiple industries to find her calling, she realized she could combine the skills she’d acquired in the workforce with her love of reading to help authors deliver the best versions of their stories.

A self-proclaimed bookworm since childhood, Alyssa has always been a natural proofreader and is excited to use her innate ability to improve stories in a professional setting. While she reads hundreds of different books each year, she is most drawn to stories in the paranormal/fantasy, romance, and suspense genres.

Alyssa lives in Massachusetts with her husband and two children, and when she’s not reading, she enjoys spending time sailing and quilting.

Mission

Our mission is to help both established authors and new authors achieve their goals and dreams. We promise to put all of our energy, and every resource we have, into helping make that happen. We are team players who would be honored to be on your publishing team. If you put your trust in us, we will never take that lightly.

Vision

Our vision is to provide vital services to the Indie Publishing Community to help improve public perception of independently published works of fiction. We want to have a hand in making it very difficult for readers to discern an indie published book, from a traditionally published novel.

We are ready to help you take your novel to the next level.
